Gilbert N. Brown was elected Commander Region V at the 2015 National Convention. He is a charter member of Greater Denton Chapter 0768 where he has served as Commander, Senior Vice Commander, Junior Vice Commander and Finance Officer. He currently is Chapter Adjutant. He joined MOPH in 2003.
At the Department level, Patriot Brown served as Junior Vice Commander, Senior Vice Commander and Sergeant at Arms and Department Commander. During his command, the Department grew by over 150 members, putting it close to 4,000 total members.
In 2013, he was named Patriot of the Year by his Chapter, the Department of Texas and Region V.
Patriot Brown served in the Army for two years, spending one year with the Army’s 9th Infantry Division in Vietnam where he was wounded in 1970 near the Plain of Reeds, an inland wetland in Vietnam's Mekong Delta.
He retired in 2009 after a 25 year career in construction management having worked for such companies as Taco Bell, Showbiz Pizza and Luby's Cafeterias where he was in charge of hiring architects and contractors, negotiating contracts and change orders and had overall responsibility for scheduling. Typically, he managed multiple projects with total contract values in the millions.
Currently, he is also active in volunteering in his community. He volunteers at his local CBOC, his local police department and he serves as a mentor for the Denton County Veterans Treatment Court.
Patriot Brown has been married to his wife Pat for over 35 years. They have three sons and four grandchildren.
